One of the things we knew early on in the renovation of Tudor on Sixth was that we wanted to bring the original silhouette and architectural details of the house back as closely as possible to what they would have looked like when the house was built in the 1930s. There are a lot of things you expect when you decide to renovate a nearly century-old house. Dust, demolition, unexpected expenses, questionable decisions, and more dust are all pretty much guaranteed.
What we did not expect was that one of our biggest renovation projects would involve us getting completely, thoroughly and repeatedly plastered.
Like a broken record here, but we don’t have many before photos. Then again, how many ways can you photograph one big open shiplap garage? Needless to say, it’s vastly different than before, and sometimes it’s hard to remember that a car was once parked somewhere around where our sweet little pink bathtub now sits.
We have a big job ahead of us to make this house our home, but it’s easy to see why we fell for her—here are a few of the historic details that won us over.
