If there is one thing we are learning as we renovate this nearly century-old Tudor, it is that the little things are rarely little things. Sometimes, the details make the biggest difference, and in an old house, those details are part of what give it character in the first place. Of course, sometimes the details also involve moving walls, building closets, and asking your carpenter to redo something because you have changed your mind. More on that in a minute.

One of the things we knew early on in the renovation of Tudor on Sixth was that we wanted to bring the original silhouette and architectural details of the house back as closely as possible to what they would have looked like when the house was built in the 1930s. There are a lot of things you expect when you decide to renovate a nearly century-old house. Dust, demolition, unexpected expenses, questionable decisions, and more dust are all pretty much guaranteed.

What we did not expect was that one of our biggest renovation projects would involve us getting completely, thoroughly and repeatedly plastered.
