A home inside the historical Nugget Hill District in Longview is on its way to becoming the city’s 12th designated Local Historic Landmark. The city’s Historic Preservation Commission gave its approval recently to granting the designation to the B. Franklin Martin House at 800 N. Sixth St. If the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council also approve, it would be the first property in Longview being used as a residence to obtain the designation.

“It’s always wonderful to designate any local historic structure,” Choy said. “You know, it’s got a lot of history to it, architecturally. It’s very significant as well. And so preserving a piece of history for future generations is wonderful to see. And so we hope that it does receive its designation.”
